Almost April

Side A

Yo! Majesty - Don't Let Go
Yo! Majesty (comprised of Shon B and Sunda-K) are possibly the best black Christian lesbian rap duo ever to come out of California. I shit you not. Not only is Don't Let Go a great track, the video is hilarious (witness the hairdresser at 0.47). For more Yo! Majesty, check out Club Action & Booty Clap (seriously, how can you not listen to a song called Booty Clap?). Sadly Yo! Majesty is no more, they had money issues and broke up the band. Hopefully at least one of them will release some solo material in the future.
Zion I and the Grouch - Rocket Man (feat. Silk E)
Jay Electronica - The Pledge
Reflection Eternal - Just Begun & Midnight Hour

Lung - Afterlife (Kryptic Minds Remix)
At risk of making this song sound slightly pornographic, it has throbbing bass, a tight beat & strange harmonies. If you fancy something slightly more upbeat but in a similar vein, check out  I Will Change You from Jack Steadman (frontman of Bombay Bicycle Club).

Moby - Victoria Lucas
The Weekend - What You Need

Friendly Fires - Paris (Aeroplane Remix ft. Au Revoir Simone)
I've liked Friendly Fires for a while, but never been blow away by them - this performance on Jimmy Fallon changed that. I couldn't embed the video because it's been booted off YouTube, so instead I give you this remix/cover of Paris by Aeroplane & Au Revoir Simone. Judging from Live Those Days Tonight & Relationships, the new album should be a belter.

Friendly Fires - Skeleton Boy
Friendly Fires - Jump In The Pool (Thin White Duke Remix)

Geographer - Kites
This guy from San Francisco has an incredible voice. His voice makes a brilliant contrast with the dance beats, live drummer and cello melody.

LCD Soundsystem - Home
Conner Youngblood - Summer Song & Monsters
Yuck - Getaway

Jamie XX - Far Nearer
I FUCKING LOVE STEEL PANS. The radio rip of this song has a little bit at the end with the DJ that never fails to make me laff - 'So Jamie, does this track mean that there'll be a lot of steel pans on the next XX album?' 'Urr...yeah you never know!' Jamie's recent remix of Rolling In The Deep is also definitely worth checking out (especially with an extra verse from Childish Gambino).

Glasser - Tremel (Jamie XX remix)
The Morning Benders - Cold War (Starslinger Remix)

Side B

We are Trees - Afraid of Love
We Are Trees are a guy & girl duo hailing from somewhere stateside - they produce lovely acoustic tunes like this one. If you like this, give  Sunrise SunsetTo Build a Mountain or Dear Chan Marshall a listen.

Thallus - End of the Sky
Thallus is a german man who produces chilled electronica beats, he's just released a new album on bandcamp called Belong. The tracks Focus The Play, Belong and New Day are all pretty ace. None of them are on YouTube yet, so I've posted this track from his last album, Between Head and Hand.

Death Cab For Cutie - When the Sun Goes Down
Death Cab have come a long way since being catapulted to fame by this little fella. A few tracks from their new album have been popping up around the internets over the last week or so, it looks like it might be a corker. This track, Codes and Keys and You Are A Tourist all sound pretty good to me.

Robin Pecknold - Losing Myself (feat. Ed Droste)
So Fleet Foxes will soon be releasing their second album Helplessness Blues. The tracks that have been released from it so far are bloody lovely - Lorelai, Montezuma and the title track all have moments of juicy goodness. Last month, Robin Pecknold (the lead singer) released a free downloadable three track EP containing this duet with Grizzly Bear's Ed Droste. If you'd like some more solo material from Robin, check out his covers of Fleetwood Mac's Dreams, or Neutral Milk Hotel's Two Headed Boy.

Young the Giant - Strings

Young the Giant have been getting a lot of hype recently, I reckon this track may justify that hype.

Alex Turner - The Lovers
